Topical Preparations
Some prescriptions for topical medication (to be used on the skin) require the mixing of different active ingredients in to a base.
In order to enhance the quality of these preparations, we make use of the Unguator 2100 High Speed Mixer.
This high-speed mixing apparatus ensures an excellently prepared product in terms of texture, consistency and aesthetically acceptability to patients.
Robotic Dispensing
The Oshakati Pharmacy Group is committed to providing our customers with the best possible service. To that end, we are pleased to announce that we have installed a Robotic Dispensing Unit at Oshakati Pharmacy. It is the first in the Republic of Namibia.
What is Robotic Dispensing
It is the use of a robot to retrieve medication to be dispensed by the pharmacist. With robotic dispensing, the medicines are delivered to the pharmacist’s workstation as opposed to the pharmacist having to collect it from where it is stored. It is accurate and fast.
How does it work?
- Assuring accuracy—the dispensing robot is reliable and avoids potential human selecting errors;
- Increase in efficiency— using the dispensing robot, the pharmacist is now able to dispense medicines much faster and thereby reducing patients’ waiting time;
- Pharmacist’s time has been saved and freed to concentrate on clinical oriented tasks such as patient counselling and advice.

Medication Counselling
Medication Counselling
What is Medication Counselling?
It is a crucial part of the service supplied by pharmacy health care professionals, when dispensing medication, to counsel patients on:
- The correct and optimal use of their medication
- What to expect when taking your medication
- Identify problems you might be experiencing with your medicines
- What to do when you experience problemsYou can ask our pharmacist questions at any time, even if you do not have a prescription at the time. It might be better to make an appointment, as this will give both you and the pharmacist more time to discuss the questions you might have.
